Roche: new detection test for lymphoma
(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday Roche announced the launch in CE-marked countries of a new detection test to identify malignant B-cell disease from normal infection.
The kit, called 'Ventana Kappa and Lambda Dual ISH mRNA Probe Cocktail', is designed to diagnose B-cell lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that represents the most frequently encountered non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Roche points out that non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is the tenth most common cancer worldwide, with over 250,000 deaths annually.
In its early stages, the disease is characterised by symptoms such as swollen lymph nodes, fever, fatigue, loss of appetite and rash, which can lead healthcare professionals to confuse it with a classic infection.
