BAE Systems: Airbus partner in micro-hybridisation
(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems has announced a partnership with Airbus to supply an energy storage system for a micro-hybridization demonstration project for commercial aviation.
The system, designed to offer an energy capacity of 200 kWh, will support the electric propulsion of engines during different phases of flight, improving fuel efficiency and performance.
Ehtisham Siddiqui, Vice President and General Manager of Controls and Avionics Solutions at BAE Systems, said that its collaboration with Airbus will advance sustainable aviation through state-of-the-art energy management solutions.
The work, carried out at BAE Systems' facilities in Endicott, New York, will draw on 25 years of experience in electrical systems and 40 years in mission-critical aircraft control systems, to meet the performance and safety requirements of electric aviation.
