USA: Composite PMI revised down for December

(CercleFinance.com) - Growth accelerated in the US private sector in December, but by far less than initially estimated, according to S&P Global, whose composite PMI index came in at 55.
4 in final data, compared with 56.6 in flash estimates and 54.9 in November.

This slight month-on-month acceleration was driven by the dynamism of the services sector, whose PMI rose from 56.1 in November to 56.8 last month, while the manufacturing PMI fell from 49.7 to 49.4.

Activity in the vast services economy climbed on better-filled order books and growing optimism about the outlook for the year ahead", explains Chris Williamson, S&P Global's chief economist.
