BAE Systems: HAPS satellite achieves major milestone
(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems announces that PHASA-35, its UK-built High Altitude Pseudo Satellite (HAPS), has taken a major step towards stratospheric operation.
During a test flight at Spaceport America, New Mexico, the solar-powered device flew for 24 hours, reaching over 66,000 feet (over 20,000 metres) before landing in serviceable condition.
This test demonstrates its ability to be re-launched rapidly after a flight, marking a significant step forward in its development.
