Eutelsat: Airbus selected for OneWeb constellation
(CercleFinance.com) - Eutelsat has selected Airbus Defence and Space to build the extension of its OneWeb constellation into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
Airbus will be responsible for designing the first batches of this extension, representing a total of 100 satellites scheduled for delivery from the end of calendar year 2026.
These new satellites will carry the most advanced technologies, including the integration of 5G in ground infrastructures.
From a technological standpoint, their compatibility with the European IRIS constellation will pave the way for the latter's entry into operational service in 2030, a constellation for which Eutelsat will be the principal architect and operator of the LEO segment.
