Alstom: has completed an order for SWR in the UK
(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom has completed a £25 million upgrade of the Class 458 fleet of electric multiple units (EMUs) for the South Western Railway (SWR).
The refurbishment was funded by Porterbrook, one of the UK's leading rolling stock finance and asset management companies and owner of the Class 458 fleet.
Twenty-eight four-car units were refurbished at Alstom's Transport Technology Centre in Widnes.
' The work at Widnes and Crewe not only improves the passenger experience of the Class 458 fleet, but also highlights the value of British engineering and our investment in local expertise,' said Peter Broadley, Managing Director of Services for the UK and Ireland at Alstom.
