Visa: 41% jump in Black Friday spending in France
(CercleFinance.com) - Visa announced on Friday that it has seen a 41% increase in transaction volumes recorded in France during 'Black Friday' this year compared to 2023.
The credit card issuer, which deems that 'Black Friday' has now become an unmissable event for consumers in France, notes that spending jumped by 47% over the whole weekend, which stretched from 'Black Friday' to 'Cyber Monday'.
According to its data, electronics stores generated the most activity, with 29% of transactions, tied with professional services, followed by the hospitality sector (18% of spending), digital goods (15% of transactions) and restaurants (9%).
In a statement, Visa says its teams have proactively blocked nearly 200% more suspected fraud attempts this year than in Black Friday 2023.
