Volkswagen: new SUV to be produced at the Wolfsburg plant
(CercleFinance.com) - The Volkswagen Group announces that the Volkswagen Tayron has rolled off the production line at its main plant in Wolfsburg.
Employees from the various manufacturing specialties accompany the symbolic start of series production on assembly line 4.
Uwe Schwartz, plant manager, commented: "The launch of the Tayron is the result of teamwork by all the colleagues involved in this project.
The Tayron brings to four the number of models built in Wolfsburg: the Golf, Tiguan and Touran are also produced there.
Jürgen Mahnkopf, Vice-Chairman of the Group's General Works Council: ' I am confident that our new SUV will build on the success of its predecessor, the Tiguan Allspace, and make an important contribution to job security. Customers in China are already enthusiastic about this car, and the Tayron will also find many buyers in Europe'.
