Bouygues: two modular housing projects in Northern France
(CercleFinance.com) - Bouygues Bâtiment, a subsidiary of Bouygues, announced on Tuesday that it was coordinating the design and construction of two modular housing projects in the Pas-de-Calais region.
In a press release, the landlord states that the project involves the installation of 99 housing units in Arras and Frévent, a concept it considers a "significant transformation" in view of the current housing crisis.
Modular housing, also known as 'off-site construction', involves modeling the structural elements and equipment of a building, manufacturing them in a factory, then transporting them to the construction site for assembly.f
Their wooden modular design can thus be replicated on other sites thanks to factory mass production.
In Arras, on the site of the former Acacias housing estate, where 24 homes were demolished in 2023, 42 new wooden modules will be delivered in October 2025.
Those destined for Frévent, currently being manufactured, will be installed in early 2026.
