ABB: selected by European Space Agency

(CercleFinance.com) - ABB announces that it has been selected by German company OHB System AG to develop thermal infrared payloads for the European Space Agency's (ESA) Harmony satellites, scheduled for 2029.


These payloads will measure various environmental parameters, such as ocean surface temperature and cloud position.

ABB's multispectral TIR system will guarantee radiometric accuracy and support climate research and the forecasting of extreme weather events.

Harmony will also provide data for geological risk assessment by detecting small changes in the earth's surface, particularly in seismic and volcanic zones.
