Merck KGaA: adjust forecasts for its three business segments

(CercleFinance.com) - At its Capital Markets Day 2024, Merck slightly adjusted its medium-term growth ambitions for its three business sectors.

In Life Sciences, the Group is targeting growth of 7% to 9% (previously 7% to 10%), still above the market average. In Healthcare, it expects slight growth (previously: mid-single-digit growth). In Electronics, the target is now 5% to 9%, a significant increase on the previous 3% to 6%.

For FY 2024, Merck confirms its forecasts and the return to profitable growth. The Group is targeting sales of between E20.7bn and E22.1bn (organic growth: +2% to +5%), EBITDA of E5.8bn and E6.4bn (organic growth: +4% to +10%) and EPS of between E8.20 and E9.30.

The group intends to normalize its current capex from around E1.6bn to E1.8bn p.a., at a slightly lower level from 2026.

We are committed to returning to growth in 2024, and this is already taking shape, management said, adding that moreover, it is well positioned to generate sustainable growth through innovation and our high-performing global talent.
