Nokia signs research agreement with Vale
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announces that its research arm, Nokia Bell Labs, has signed a research agreement with Vale, a global mining company based in Brazil, to implement a cognitive monitoring network service.
The agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two partners around the Carajás autonomous iron ore mine, the world's largest open-pit iron ore mine, where the technology is creating networks capable of proactively detecting and acting to ensure essential communication in at-risk environments.
The partnership aims to create a holistic digital twin for connected operations in the mine, using data from mining production systems.
' This collaboration between Nokia Bell Labs and Vale is the next step in making the mining industry safer and more productive. Together, we will revolutionize the design and control of networks - and mines', commented Lelio Di Martino, Managing Director of the Cognitive Digital Mine Venture at Nokia.
