USA: sharp reduction in trade deficit in August
(CercleFinance.com) - The US trade deficit narrowed significantly to $70.
4 billion in August, compared with the previous month's $78.9 billion (which was slightly revised from an initial estimate of $78.8 billion), according to the Commerce Department.
This 10.8% contraction in the month-on-month deficit is the result of both a 0.9% drop in US imports of goods and services, to $342.2 billion, and a 2% rise in exports, to $271.8 billion.
