Alstom: has completed a major overhaul in the UK

(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom has completed the largest overhaul of bogies belonging to the UK's busiest train fleet.
The group has overhauled 1,148 bogies - a structure with wheels on the underside of the train car - on Avanti West Coast's fleet of class 390 Pendolinos.

'The 35 11-car Pendolinos have had their 22 bogies examined and refurbished to give them a new lease of life after covering more than 750,000 miles, the equivalent of three trips to the moon,' says the group.

' By ensuring that these trains continue to perform at their best, we are not only preserving the Crewe plant's heritage as a center of rail excellence, but also contributing to a more reliable and efficient rail service for passengers throughout the UK' said Peter Broadley, Managing Director of Services for the UK and Ireland at Alstom.
