Eli Lilly: invests $1.8bn in two sites in Ireland

(CercleFinance.com) - Eli Lilly has announced that it is investing $1bn to expand its manufacturing site in Limerick, Ireland, in order to increase production of biologically active ingredients, notably for its Alzheimer's treatment.

The laboratory will also spend $800m to expand its Kinsale site, also in Ireland, dedicated to diabetes and obesity drugs.

The Limerick expansion will create 150 additional jobs, bringing the total workforce to 450. Production is scheduled to start in 2026, subject to planning approval.

The Kinsale site also plays a key role in the supply of treatments, says the laboratory.

Finally, Eli Lilly intends to strengthen its operations in Cork and focus on sustainability with reductions in energy, water and waste at its sites.
