Equinor: 2 platforms powered by terrestrial electricity

(CercleFinance.com) - Equinor announces that since September 7, its Troll B and C platforms have begun to be partially powered by terrestrial electricity, thereby reducing CO2 emissions by some 250,000 tonnes per year.

Equinor points out that this project is part of the Troll West Electrification Plan (TWEL), approved in 2021.

The electricity comes from Kollsnes and powers the systems on board the platforms, with the exception of the gas-powered export compressors.

The electrification of Troll B and C contributes to reducing CO2 emissions by the equivalent of 125,000 gasoline-powered cars, and will lower annual CO2 emissions by 0.5% of Norway's total emissions.

Full electrification of Troll C is underway and will deliver a further reduction of 200,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
