Airbus: Iraq orders 12 H225M helicopters
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus Helicopters says it has won a contract for 12 H225M multi-role helicopters from the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, to be operated by the Iraqi Army Aviation Command as replacements for older Mi-17s.
These aircraft will be able to perform a wider range of missions: counter-terrorism, special operations, tactical troop transport, attack, ground fire support, medical evacuation, combat search and rescue.
Deliveries will begin in 2025. Iraq already has a fleet of Airbus H125, H135 and H145 helicopters. More than 350 H225s and H225Ms are in service worldwide, clocking up over 880,000 flight hours.
