Nissan: LFP battery production certified in Japan

(CercleFinance.com) - Nissan has announced that its development and mass production of on-board lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries has been certified in Japan by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

By developing and mass-producing LFP batteries, Nissan intends to gain a foothold in Japan by strengthening the supply chain for storage batteries and promoting the use of electric vehicles equipped with LFP batteries.

Makoto Uchida, Nissan's Chief Executive Officer, said: ' Nissan will adopt LFP batteries to meet diverse customer needs and offer more affordable electric vehicles. The batteries, which will be developed and mass-produced in Japan, will be installed in mini electric vehicles from fiscal year 2028. We aim to establish a base for LFP batteries in Japan by making the most of the government support approved by METI '.
