BAE Systems: launch of HMS Cardiff in Scotland

(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems announces that HMS Cardiff, the second of eight City Type 26 class frigates built for the Royal Navy, has been launched for the first time.


The ship was transferred from a shipyard slipway to a barge, then towed to a deep-water site in Scotland for submerging.

It will then return to the Scotstoun yard for the next stages of outfitting and commissioning.

This has been hailed as 'a key milestone' by program managers, marking an important step forward in the construction of these state-of-the-art frigates.
