Barclays: launches credit card with Amazon

(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon and Barclays announced on Monday that they would be jointly launching a credit card, which will enable users to earn points towards future purchases on the online shopping site.

The joint card, issued by Visa for the UK and to be known as Amazon Barclaycard, will reward users with 1% for every purchase they make on Amazon.

Rewards can rise to 2% for members of the Amazon Prime preferential program on promotional days such as Cyber Monday, Black Friday or Prime Days.

It will also enable them to collect points representing 0.5% of their non-Amazon spending for a period of 12 months, then 0.25% thereafter.

These points will then be accumulated on the card and redistributed to holders in the form of a gift card.

With no annual fee, the card will also enable users to benefit from a £20 voucher on the Amazon.co.uk site when they sign up.
