Rolls-Royce begins testing F130 engine for B-52

(CercleFinance.com) - Rolls-Royce has announced the start of F130 engine testing in Indianapolis, a further step towards delivery of the US Air Force's B-52J Stratofortress.

Rolls-Royce also successfully completed Twin Pod rapid tests this week. The tests at NASA Stennis marked the first time F130 engines have been tested in the twin pod configuration of the B-52 aircraft.

Testing at NASA Stennis played a key role in ensuring that the initial objectives were met, and that delivery was on schedule with the Air Force.

Candice Bineyard, Director, Lifecycle and Naval Programs - Defense, said: "We are delighted to reach the next milestone in the program with the F130 sea-level trials at Indianapolis. To date, our test program has confirmed our expectations and kept us on track to deliver this Air Force contract.
