ABB: chosen for modernization work in Singapore

(CercleFinance.com) - ABB has announced that it has been commissioned to modernize one of the control systems of the 1,300 MW Keppel Merlimau Cogen (KMC) combined-cycle gas turbine on Jurong Island, Singapore, in order to improve efficiency and reliability.


The project involves the replacement of the existing Egatrol 8 turbine control system with Egatrol X, based on ABB's flagship Ability System 800xA distributed control system (DCS) and the modern AC800M portfolio.

The transfer of all functionality from the existing application to the updated solution will enable the customer to avoid downtime and install the control system in the shortest possible time.

ABB will offer a flexible, customized approach in which older components are replaced as and when required.
