AkzoNobel: innovative technology for EV batteries

(CercleFinance.com) - AkzoNobel's Resicoat brand has developed an innovative powder coating technology that improves the electrical protection of electric vehicle (EV) battery systems - in a single spray.


The electric vehicle market is increasingly demanding coatings with higher dielectric strength to improve the safety of battery systems, the group says.

The company's 'Powder Coatings' division has responded to this challenge by creating a solution that enables customers to achieve the required film thickness in a single spray, helping to increase efficiency and productivity.

Available in China, this new technology is suitable for battery system parts such as cooling plates, side plates and battery covers (housings).

We have developed an innovative technology that meets a clear industry need and helps improve safety, said Jeff Jirak, Director of AkzoNobel's Powder Coatings Division.

This is an important advance which means that customers no longer need to spray twice or more to achieve the right thickness to provide high dielectric strength.
