USA: weekly jobless claims down

(CercleFinance.com) - The Labor Department announced that 235,000 new U.
S. jobless claims were registered for the week ending July 15, down 10,000 on the previous week, which was revised upwards from 243 to 245,000.

The four-week moving average - more representative of the underlying trend - came in at 235,500, an anecdotal increase of 250 on the previous week.

Finally, the number of people receiving regular benefits fell by 9,000 to 1,851,000 during the week of July 1, the most recent period available for this statistic.
