ABB: Al Dharfra solar project reaches full capacity
(CercleFinance.com) - ABB reports that the Al Dhafra PV2 solar project in Abu Dhabi - which uses ABB automation solutions - is now exporting 100% of its capacity to the grid.
The 2 GW plant, covering 20 km², generates enough electricity for 200,000 homes a year and reduces Abu Dhabi's CO2 emissions by 2.4 million metric tons a year.
ABB was chosen by CMEC (China Machinery Engineering Corporation, a Chinese company specializing in engineering, procurement and construction projects) for this project, the world's largest photovoltaic site, which is crucial to the Emirates' energy strategy of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
ABB says its ABB Ability Symphony Plus system optimizes the plant's efficiency and reliability.
