(CercleFinance.com) - (CercleFinance.

Production of its six second-generation (G2) Galileo satellites has begun at Airbus' Friedrichshafen site in Germany, with the arrival of the first Beyond Gravity satellite flight model structure in Zurich.
The second satellite structure is due to arrive in early 2024, and the third towards the end of next year. Airbus' modular approach to G2 satellite manufacturing will enable the simultaneous production of three spacecraft in parallel.
Jean-Marc Nasr, Head of Space Systems at Airbus, said that its teams in Friedrichshafen are working with engineers across Europe to meet the ambitious schedule and finalize these sophisticated satellites that will further enhance the global Galileo system, opening up even more opportunities for services on Earth.
