Costco: August same-store sales up 5.5%
(CercleFinance.com) - US warehouse club operator Costco Wholesale posted a 5.
5% rise in August sales at stores open at least a year, particularly helped by higher e-commerce sales (+23.9%).
Net sales at Issaquah, Washington-based Costco rose 6.9% to 11 billion dollars for the four weeks ended 1 September, the retailer said.
Excluding the impact of gasoline prices and foreign exchange, comparable August same-store sales were up 5.9%, Costco added.
The group's New York-listed shares were up 1.4% after these numbers.
Costco currently operates 783 warehouses, including 544 in the US, 100 in Canada, 39 in Mexico, 29 in the UK and one in China.
