Airbus: builds satellite for SKY Perfect JSAT
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus announces that it has been selected by SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, Japan's leading satellite operator and the world's largest provider of fixed satellite services, to build Superbird-9, a fully digital, reconfigurable in-orbit communications satellite.
The satellite will be based on Airbus' standardised OneSat product range. Airbus will provide a turnkey solution, including the design and manufacture of Superbird-9, associated services and support for in-orbit operations and the ground segment, as well as an advanced digital suite to manage the digital payload and operate the satellite's end-to-end resources.
OneSat will enable SKY Perfect JSAT to replace a key broadcast mission and simultaneously provide fully flexible High Throughput Satellite (HTS) services with high performance and a unique experience for their customers, Airbus says.
