AstraZeneca: Brilinta approved for stroke prevention
(CercleFinance.com) - AstraZeneca announced on Friday that the US authorities have approved the marketing of Brilinta for stroke risk reduction.
The FDA's approval applies to patients who have already suffered an acute ischemic stroke or who are at risk of transient ischemia, the company said.
The FDA's green light comes in the wake of phase III results that showed that a combination of aspirin and Brilinta "significantly" reduced the risk of stroke and death in treated patients.
Even so, the share is down almost 1% in a flat market in London at lunch on Friday.
