Vivendi: Amsterdam Court rules on Mediaset case

(CercleFinance.com) - The proposed merger of Mediaset's Spanish and Italian activities has been suspended by a court in Amsterdam.

The court demands changes to the project, although Mediaset had already announced that it was considering new options since a Spanish court suspended the project, Aurel BGC said.

At the beginning of the year the shareholders of the Italian television channel Mediaset voted in favour of approving certain terms and conditions of the group's "Media For Europe" structure, which means that the project was confirmed and that it was set to continue.

The French shareholder Vivendi was not allowed to participate in the talks, as it opposed the project.

For the record, the "Media For Europe" project concerns a cross-border merger of Mediaset and Mediaset Espana into a new holding company under Dutch law.

The Vivendi share is up slightly over 1% in early trading on Wednesday, slightly underperforming the CAC 40.
