Casino: Brussels antitrust probe
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission announces that it has opened a formal anti-competitive practise investigation to determine whether Casino and Intermarché have illegally coordinated their actions in the market, in breach of EU competition rules.
Brussels is concerned that both food retailers have gone beyond the aims of their purchasing alliance reached in November 2014 for the joint purchase of their branded products, with the INCAA joint purchasing center.
In particular, the Commission will try to determine whether Casino and Intermarché have coordinated their activities relating to the development of their store networks and pricing policies for consumers.
