Veolia: partnership to recycle EV battery metals
(CercleFinance.com) - Renault, Veolia and Solvay have announced a partnership to set up a circular ecosystem for metals from EV batteries in Europe, which aims to preserve resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create value.
Solvay will provide its expertise in the chemical extraction of metals from batteries and Veolia its know-how acquired over the last ten years in the dismantling and recycling of lithium-ion batteries via hydrometallurgical processes.
As the number of electric vehicles on the roads is expected to grow from 10 million in 2020 to more than 100 million by 2030 worldwide, stable and responsible access to battery metals is a critical issue, Veolia said.
