Thales: Kingklip developed in Brazil and Indonesia
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales has announced that its subsidiary Omnisys has recently been awarded the "Strategic Defense Product of Brazil" (PED) certification for its Kingklip sonar, which offers an exceptional performance and is fully adapted for the requirements of the Tamandare program.
Thales and Omnisys' investment in the local production of transducers represents 20 million Brazilian reals (c. 5 million euros), making Omnisys the first company to own an industrial site of defense sonar systems in Brazil.
In addition, the Indonesian Navy has reinstated its confidence in Thales with the installation and integration of the Kingklip hull sonar on Diponegoro, following repairs on a damaged vessel, following operations at sea in January 2015.
