Total: huge LNG bunkering operation in Rotterdam
(CercleFinance.com) - Total announces that the CMA CGM Jacques Saadé, the world's largest containership powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), completed its first bunkering operation on 13 November with Gas Agility, the LNG bunker vessel chartered by Total.
This bunkering operation was carried out at the World Gateway Rotterdam container terminal. The 23,000 TEU container ship received approximately 17,300 m3 of LNG, the largest bunkering of LNG as marine fuel in the world to date.
The LNG was supplied by Total Marine Fuels Global Solutions, Total's bunkering business unit. The bunkering lasted approximately 24 hours. In this flagship operation, the carbon footprint of the LNG was reduced with the introduction of biomethane.
