Nexans: key stage in building Aurora ship

(CercleFinance.com) - Nexans announces a decisive step in the construction of its cable ship Nexans Aurora, with the ongoing assembly of large blocks at the CRIST shipyards in the Polish port of Gdynia.

Ragnhild Katteland, Vice President Subsea & Land Systems expresses that "The construction of this groundbreaking cable laying vessel is a major milestone in our long term strategy for the future of the global energy market. It will enable Nexans to maintain and extend our position as an important turnkey player in the field of subsea cables."

Aurora's design is based on the combined experience of Nexans, Skipsteknisk, Ulstein Verft and MAATS Tech. Ulstein Verft's shipyards in Norway will add the finishing touches to the vessel, commission it and test it before delivery in 2021.
