Bayer: partnership with Acuitas Therapeutics
(CercleFinance.com) - Bayer today announced that it has teamed up with Acuitas Therapeutics, a biotechnology company specialising in the development of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery systems for molecular therapeutics.
Acuitas' LNP technology will support Bayer's in vivo gene editing and protein replacement programs by specifically delivering RNA payloads to the desired target organ, the liver. LNPs are spherical drug delivery bodies that can be equipped with therapeutic payloads for intracellular delivery.
Acuitas' technology is used in many vaccines and therapies in clinical development and has also been used in some of the COVID-19 vaccines that have been approved and administered to people in 180 countries.
