BASF: invests 10 billion dollars in new China plant

(CercleFinance.com) - BASF said on Thursday that it plans to build a new "smart" chemical site in Guangdong, China, a project representing a total investment of up to 10 billion dollars.

The German giant has signed a framework agreement setting out further details to establish its second "Verbund" site in China, selecting the city of Zhanjiang.

BASF's Verbund sites tend to integrate production plants, energy and material flows, logistics, as well as site infrastructure.

For the new site, a smart manufacturing concept has been developed on the basis of cutting-edge technologies that maximize resource and energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact, BASF said.
