Daimler: new safety features for truck brakes
(CercleFinance.com) - The German auto giant is presenting world firsts for Mercedes trucks for greater safety on the road.
The new Active Sideguard Assist system, which has an automatic braking function can both warn the driver, and trigger an automatic braking manoeuvre until the vehicle comes to a complete standstill.
The Actros and Arocs models will be equipped with Active Sideguard Assist from June 2021.
Also available from June 2021 for Actros models, Active Drive Assist 2 includes an emergency stop function that automatically brakes the vehicle to a complete stop in an emergency.
The company has invested hundreds of millions of euros a year in research and development, for assistance systems designed to further help drivers in their work and increase the safety of all road users, management said.
