ABB: propulsion contract for six new icebreakers
(CercleFinance.com) - ABB announced on Monday that it has won a contract worth over 300 million dollars from the South Korean company Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine to supply marine propulsion systems for six new icebreakers.
The electro-technical group specifies that its Azipod propulsion systems will equip six ships that will transport liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the North Sea routes.
The LNG carriers, which are scheduled for delivery as from 2023, are to serve the Arctic LNG 2 project, a major development located on Russia's Gydan Peninsula.
They will each have a capacity of 170,000 cubic metres.
