
Iberdrola: green light from CMA for acquisition of ENW
(CercleFinance.com) - The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has approved the acquisition of an 88% stake in electricity distribution network operator Electricity North West (ENW) by Iberdrola.
This transaction is being carried out through its subsidiary ScottishPower.
Through ScottishPower, Iberdrola now becomes the second largest distribution network operator in the UK, supplying electricity to around 12 million people on a network stretching over 170,000 kilometres.
ScottishPower's management said that Iberdrola continues to increase its investments in this country to support the government's plans to modernise the country's energy system.
