Lanxess: in the dumps after results and outlook

(CercleFinance.com) - Lanxess shares are down 9% in Frankfurt, after on the publication of its 2024 results, the specialty chemist said that it expects the economic and geopolitical environment to remain difficult for the coming financial year.

In 2025, it anticipates operating growth of around 10% (EBITDA before exceptional items on an adjusted basis), notably thanks to the persistent effects of the 'Forward!' action plan, therefore reaching a level of E600m and E650m.

With its action plan having enabled it to cut costs considerably, Lanxess saw EBITDA before exceptional items rise by 19.9% to E614m in 2024, despite sales down 5% to E6.37bn.

At its AGM on 22 May, the German group plans to propose a flat dividend of E0.10 per share for 2024, an amount which it says reflects the company's focus on reducing its net financial debt.
