Thales: Modem21 compatible with MEO satellites
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales announces that tests carried out as part of a DGA project have confirmed the compatibility of its Modem21 with SES's MEO (medium earth orbit) satellite constellation.
This demonstration paves the way for the hybridization of sovereign ultra-secure military GEO satellites with commercial MEO equatorial or polar medium-orbit constellations, offering enhanced security and protection.
The combination of Thales' Modem21 with SES' innovative second-generation [...] system promises a highly secure, high-performance solution, which will also enable our government customers to retain full control over their network, said Roy Sielaff, Vice President Space & Defense Sales for Europe at SES.
The Modem21 multi-orbit compatible with the SES constellation demonstrates the feasibility of hybridizing constellations for future military use, while maintaining their protection and security requirements, Thales added.
