Thales: contract to supply satellite to SKY Perfect JSAT
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), announces the signing of a contract to manufacture the JSAT-32 geostationary telecommunications satellite for SKY Perfect JSAT, Asia's largest satellite operator.
This satellite will cover Japan and the surrounding seas, offering new narrow beams for mobility applications. It will eventually take over from the satellites currently delivering communication and distribution services in Japan.
As prime contractor, Thales Alenia Space is responsible for the design, manufacture, testing and delivery of the satellite to the designated launch pad. The company will also supply the associated ground segment.
With a launch weight of 3.7 tonnes, JSAT-32 will be based on Thales Alenia Space's Spacebus 4000B2 platform. Scheduled for launch in 2027, the satellite will be designed for a nominal service life of over 15 years.
