Eurazeo: first transaction for environmental fund
(CercleFinance.com) - Eurazeo announced last night that it had signed its first investment agreement as part of its new environmental fund, in the form of a majority stake in a biological control specialist.
Bioline AgroSciences, the world's third-largest producer of macrobials, supplies biological control organisms for pest control in agriculture.
The company operates six plants in the US, UK, France, Spain and Kenya, all of which produce agents that protect mainly high-value crops such as berries, flowers, ornamentals and fruit and vegetables.
Eurazeo praises the company's broad product range, recognized brand, strong international presence and double-digit sales growth since 2018.
This first investment comes as Eurazeo says it has completed the first closing of the Eurazeo Planetary Boundaries Fund (EPBF) with 300 million euros secured, or 40% of the E750m target.
EPBF's first investors include leading European financial institutions, insurance companies, asset managers and family offices.
This environmental impact fund, launched ten months ago, was inspired by the 'planetary boundaries' principle devised by Johan Rockström, a researcher at the Stockholm Resilience Centre.
