Ericsson: tests 5G rail with Qualcomm Technologies
(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson announces that it has carried out an interoperability test on the n101 frequency band dedicated to 5G rail communications in Europe, in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies.
This test marks an important milestone for the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS), planned to replace GSM-R by 2030.
Both companies used a mobile test platform powered by the Qualcomm X85 5G modem on the n101 band (1900-1910 MHz) and an Ericsson radio prototype.
This test represents a decisive step in the development of FRMCS radio modules and in the planning of FRMCS trials.
