E510m) to build, operate and maintain a new state-of-the-art materials recycling facility in Hume, near Canberra.
The construction and operation of the facility will create 136 jobs and avoid the need to truck recyclable materials from Canberra to Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide, thus significantly reducing carbon emissions from transport.
The utility services group is expected to process over 2.3 million tonnes of household waste over the first 20 years of operation, representing a reduction of 520,000 tonnes in greenhouse gas emissions.
