Airbus: share down as 2025 forecasts deemed cautious
(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday Airbus announced that it planned to increase both deliveries and operating income this year, but its cautious forecasts caused its share price to fall in Paris.
The aircraft manufacturer has set itself the target of delivering around 820 commercial aircraft this year, up 7% on the 766 civil aircraft sold last year.
The group is also aiming for adjusted EBIT of around E7bn, compared with E5.4bn in 2024 and E5.8bn in 2023.
In a reaction note, analysts at Allinvest Securities consider this guidance to be "a little right", as do those at RBC, who feel that Airbus is showing a certain "conservatism".
FY 2024 consolidated sales rose by 6% to E69.2bn, vs. the market's expectation of E68.3bn.
Free cash flow came as a pleasant surprise at E4.46bn, vs. E4.01bn in 2023 and a consensus figure of E3.37bn.
Airbus, which says it has achieved its annual targets for 2024, intends to propose a dividend of E2 per share to its shareholders, compared with E1.80 in 2023, plus an exceptional dividend of E1 per share.
Following this publication, the share fell over 2% on Thursday morning in early trading, suffering one of the biggest falls on the CAC 40 index.
