TotalEnergies: agreement to export gas from Cyprus
(CercleFinance.com) - TotalEnergies and ENI, partners in Block 6 offshore Cyprus (TotalEnergies 50%, ENI 50% operator), have signed an Inter-Governmental Agreement for the development of gas resources in Block 6 with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Cyprus.
This agreement represents a key milestone in the development of the Cronos gas field located on Block 6 in Cyprus.
The agreement sets out a framework for Cronos gas to be processed via existing infrastructure at Zohr offshore Egypt and then liquefied at the Damietta LNG plant in Egypt, for export to Europe.
TotalEnergies is delighted to participate in the opening of an export route for Cypriot gas to Europe via Egypt. This agreement represents a major step towards adding value to Cyprus' gas by taking advantage of existing facilities in Egypt offering available liquefaction capacity, thus contributing to Europe's energy security by transporting additional LNG volumes, it said.
