
Thales: contract to supply satellite to Space Norway
(CercleFinance.com) - Space Norway, the leading Norwegian satellite operator in the Northern European market, and Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), today announced the signature of a contract for the supply of a new geostationary telecommunications satellite, THOR 8.
It will ensure the continuity of broadcasting services and meet the growing demand for connectivity in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
With Ka- and Ku-band capabilities, it will provide broadband services for fixed and mobile infrastructures.
Based on the Spacebus 4000B2 platform, THOR 8 will be launched in 2027, and will have a lifetime of over 15 years.
