Thales: contract with DGA for anti-submarine buoys
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales has announced that it has signed a contract with the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) to supply several hundred SonoFlash acoustic buoys for the French Navy.
According to Thales, this buoy, dropped from a maritime patrol aircraft (ATL2 type) or a helicopter (NH90 type), can be used to detect submarines. It is also perfectly interoperable with the Flash hardened sonar and the towed sonars of the CAPTAS family, it adds.
Thales adds that Sonoflash is produced in France in conjunction with French SMEs and that it strengthens France's strategic and capability ambitions in the field of anti-submarine warfare.
